There is nothing easy about pain, fear, or difficulty. If I had my way, I’d choose comfort every time. A life free of struggle sounds appealing, doesn’t it? But that’s not reality. The things that truly matter—the things that are valuable or ‘worth it’—always come with a degree of difficulty, often a high degree. Whether it’s physical, emotional, relational, or spiritual, real growth, healing, and transformation require us to face the hard stuff.
To be brave is to step out of the comfortable and into the hard. It’s only when we do this that change can happen, that growth can begin, or that something broken can be restored.
The amazing thing is that we’re not in it alone. We have a God who promises to be with us no matter what. He strengthens us, helps us, and upholds us. How good is that! He doesn’t just want us to survive—He wants us to thrive. He calls us into deeper relationship with Him, into greater courage, and into a life where fear does not rule our decisions.
Isaiah 41:10 (NLT) says: “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
That same hand shut the mouths of lions for Daniel and stood in the fire with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. That same God walks with us today. The path may be painful, the road may be uncertain, but He is unwavering.
So, what have you been putting off? What step of courage have you been hesitating to take? What fear has been stopping you from moving forward, growing, or healing?
The definition of brave is “courageous behaviour or character. The ability to confront frightening things or fear. To push through difficulty, danger, or pain.”
Maybe today is the day you take that step. Maybe today is the day you choose to be brave. And as you do, remember—you are not alone.
