Our recent hike to Square Rock in Namadgi National Park was an enriching time of reflection and adventure. While the group may have been small in number, the experience reminded us that God is always present, leading each step we take—both on the trail and in life.
The journey through Namadgi’s forested paths offered moments of quiet and awe, as we moved beneath the tall trees and paused often to take in the beauty around us. As we walked, we took time to reflect on God’s Word and how He faithfully guides His people:
“I will direct your steps. I delight in every detail of your life. Though you stumble, you will never fall, For I hold you by the hand” – Psalm 37:23–24 (NLT)
This verse was a timely reminder that even when the path is uneven, both in hiking and in life, God’s steady hand is always with us. Along the way, we also considered Isaiah 58:11 (NLT):
“The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength.”
True to this promise, the halfway point delivered a breathtaking view from Square Rock—a spectacular panorama of the Namadgi ranges that left us in awe of the Creator’s handiwork. It was a vivid illustration of how, when we trust His guidance, we often find ourselves in places of unexpected beauty and peace. After refuelling with some lunch, we headed back along the same path, enjoying the familiarity of the already-walked trail, but with a fresh perspective, seeing things that we hadn’t noticed before.
We’re thankful for this time to walk, reflect, and be strengthened together in God’s presence. Whether you’re hiking through forests or navigating your day-to-day, may you be encouraged to trust in the One who makes your paths straight.
